Andi Saptono, PhD

Andi Saptono, PhD is a Health Informatics faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. He has extensive experience in researching and developing innovation of technologies in Digital Health, as well as implementing various Digital Health innovations in collaboration with both federal and private sectors.  

His works include the development of a novel platform to deliver real-time telehealth services; a learning health system platform and assistive technology registry for healthcare and rehabilitation; and a wellness mHealth system for individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions which allows various daily observations, including monitoring individuals post lung transplant, post-partum lifestyle management, and return to work support. His research aims at improving the accessibility of information technology in three aspects: accessibility of the technology in use, accessibility to service through the information technology, and access to the technology in limited-resource areas. 

He is the PI for the investigation on the accessibility and usability of mHealth to promote independence of individuals with spinal and brain anomaly, supported through a project titled ‘Promoting Independence and Self-Management using mHealth’ from NIDILRR. This effort focuses on developing an mHealth solution that supports four key roles surrounding the individual, including parents/caregivers, attendants/professional caregivers, clinicians/care coordinators, and community support organizations.  

He also works with team of investigators involved in RERC on Wireless Technology that promotes mainstream wireless inclusion through technology, also supported by NIDILRR.
