Clive D’Souza, Ph.D., is a human factors researcher and engineer. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology at the University of Pittsburgh and a faculty affiliate in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Industrial Engineering.  

D’Souza received his MS in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering both from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His research focuses on understanding human movement, community mobility, and transportation barriers/facilitators for people with physical and sensory impairments in order to advance the accessible design of mobility technologies and systems. His research has received support from the National Institute for Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), the US Access Board, and from industry sponsors.  

D’Souza is a Principal Investigator and collaborates with members of Pittsburgh Low Vision Research Collaborative to evaluate low vision assistive technologies and outcomes related to independent mobility and transportation including driving.
