Minmei Shih, PhD, OTR/L

Minmei Shih (“Mei”), PhD, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and a rehabilitation scientist. Shih has expertise in treating people with neurological diseases and injuries, as well as blindness and low vision. She also has extensive experience in validating functional outcome measures and executing quality improvement projects in many clinical settings.   

Shih received her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh and completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Occupational Therapy and the UPMC Stroke Institute. Shih holds specialty certifications in stroke rehabilitation, brain injury, and Parkinson’s wellness recovery. She is also the recipient of the 2019 School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Department of Occupational Therapy Alumni Award of Excellence for her leadership in the advancement of neurorehabilitation practice.  

Shih works in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh and her role in Pittsburgh Low Vision Research Collaborative is to partner with research principal investigators and their teams to support and facilitate various research projects. She is responsible for managing day-to-day research operations across projects, coordinating resources, communicating with people and teams, training research personnel, and maintaining data integrity.
